Your data, handled with care

Rozgaar Setu (“we”, “us”) runs the Rozgaar Setu website and services at rozgaarsetu.org, which connect people looking for work with businesses looking to hire in India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.

We collect information you give us and a small amount of technical information created when you use the service.

• Account details: your name, mobile number and/or email, city, preferred language, and a password (stored only as a secure hash).
• How you found us: if you arrived through a tagged link (for example a Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Reddit post), the campaign name and source of your first visit, the referring website’s name and the language you chose are saved with your account when you sign up. We use this only to understand which posts help people find work.
• Worker profile: kinds of work, skills, years of experience, availability, preferred job types, expected pay, languages, area and pincode, an optional photo link and an optional “about me”.
• Business profile: business name, industry, address, contact number, website and logo link.
• Activity: jobs you post or apply to, application status changes, reports you submit, verification requests and notifications.
• Payment records (employers only): order ID, amount, purpose and status. Card, UPI and bank details are collected by our payment partner, not by us.
• Technical data: IP address, browser and device type and server logs, used to keep the service secure and working.

• To create and run your account and show you relevant jobs or workers.
• To match workers and jobs using trade, skills, location, experience and availability.
• To send your profile to an employer when you apply, and to let them contact you after shortlisting.
• To verify identities, skills and businesses when you ask for a verified badge.
• To keep people safe: preventing fraud, investigating reports and enforcing our Terms.
• To send service notifications about applications, jobs and your account.
• To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
• To understand how the service is used, using combined data that does not identify you.

We process your personal data with your consent, which you give when you create an account, and for legitimate uses allowed by law, such as preventing fraud or complying with a legal duty. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or writing to us; this does not affect processing that already happened.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these cases:

• Employers: when you apply to a job, the employer sees your worker profile. Your phone number and email are shown only after they shortlist you.
• Workers: job seekers see your business profile and the jobs you post. Your contact number is not shown publicly.
• Service providers who run the service for us under contract, such as cloud hosting, database hosting, payment processing (Razorpay) and, when added, SMS and email delivery.
• Authorities, when required by law or to protect someone’s safety.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to personal data inside our team is limited to people who need it. Our hosting providers may store data on servers in India or other countries; when they do, we require safeguards that protect your data to the standard of Indian law. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us about any suspicious activity.

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except records we must keep longer by law (for example payment and tax records) or to resolve an open dispute or safety report.

• See the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct or update it — most of it you can edit yourself in your profile.
• Ask us to delete your account and data.
• Withdraw consent you have given.
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to.
• Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer, and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

Rozgaar Setu is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts or allow jobs that involve child labour. If you believe a child is using the service, please report it to us.

We use a small number of essential cookies, for example to keep you logged in and remember your language. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics (provided by Google) also sets cookies to measure visits and page views; Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We may update this policy as the service grows. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by message before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
