How to Spot Fake Job Offers

Rozgaar Setu team · Updated

Most employers are genuine, but job scams do happen, and they usually target people who urgently need work. Knowing the warning signs protects your money and your personal details.

Warning signs

  • Being asked to pay — a registration fee, “processing” charge, deposit or money for training or a uniform before you start
  • Pay that is far higher than similar jobs, for very little work
  • Pressure to decide immediately or to keep the offer secret
  • Being asked for bank passwords, OTPs or card details
  • No clear workplace address or business name

Never share these

No genuine employer needs your bank PIN, net-banking password, card CVV or the one-time codes (OTPs) sent to your phone. Anyone asking for them is not hiring you.

How Rozgaar Setu helps

  • Workers never pay to search or apply on Rozgaar Setu
  • New job posts with scam warning signs are held until our team reviews them
  • The Verified badge appears only after our team checks a business's details
  • Your phone number is shared only after an employer shortlists you

If something feels wrong

Stop, don't pay, and report the job using the Report button on the job page — our team reviews every report. If you have lost money, also contact your bank and the national cyber-crime helpline (1930) or cybercrime.gov.in.
