How to Find a Job in Mumbai Without a Degree

Rozgaar Setu team · Updated

Many jobs in Mumbai care far more about what you can do than about certificates or degrees. Shops, restaurants, warehouses, building sites, housing societies and delivery businesses hire people every day based on their skills, reliability and how close they live. This guide explains how to find that work and present yourself well.

Start with the work you can already do

Make a short list of work you have done before — even informally. Helping in a family shop, driving, cooking, cleaning, carrying goods or fixing things at home are all real skills. Employers hiring helpers, delivery workers, kitchen staff or housekeeping staff value them.

  • Helper, warehouse, factory and housekeeping jobs often need no experience
  • Driving and delivery jobs need a valid licence for the vehicle
  • Skilled trades (electrician, plumber, mason) value experience you can describe clearly

Look for work close to where you live

Travel time in Mumbai can take a big part of your day, even with the local trains. A job that pays slightly less but is close to home can leave you better off. Search by your own area or city first, and check the location on every job before applying.

Use a simple profile instead of a resume

On Rozgaar Setu you make a short profile once: your name, city, the kind of work you do, your skills and experience. That profile is what employers see when you apply — you don't need to write or print a resume.

Keep it honest and specific. “3 years as a kitchen helper in a restaurant” tells an employer more than “hard working”.

Read the job before you apply

  • Pay and how it is paid (daily, weekly or monthly)
  • Full-time, part-time, shift or daily-wage work
  • Working hours and weekly off
  • Whether any document is needed — on Rozgaar Setu only driving jobs can ask for a driving licence

Stay safe

A genuine employer will not ask you to pay to get a job. If anyone asks for a registration fee, a deposit or money for a “uniform” before you start, stop and report the job. Workers never pay to search or apply on Rozgaar Setu.
